The Story of Mother Teresa
Updated: Aug 13, 2019
How she inspired us to create our non-profit
The original inspiration to form a non-profit dedicated to help children came initially from the example of Mother Teresa of Calcutta. Although she is perhaps better known for her care of the dying and destitute, Mother Teresa was especially concerned for the welfare of children.
The inspiration became stronger one Thanksgiving Day when it was very apparent that not everyone has the opportunity to sit down with family and friends to celebrate a special meal. In time it was decided that the most effective way to address hunger locally would be through the distribution of nutritious soup.
Gabriel’s Children is a small non-profit that has been formed in Vermont to help children beginning in the summer of 2016. It’s first mission is to provide soup to children and their families in need, which will be freshly produced locally at its kitchen in Rutland, Vermont for delivery to homes in the area.
Gabriel’s Children hopes in time to offer other services that will help children realize their full potential to become people who will make the world a better place.
Gabriel’s Children is funded entirely by the donations from our supporters. All donations are tax exempt through the non-profit’s 501c3 recognition by the IRS. Donations can be made by way of a monetary gift as well as donations of vegetables and other food.
